Exportation of agricultural commodities during year 2007
A total of 7,167 commercial and non-commercial phytosanitary certificates meant for export of agricultural produce were issued by the National Plant Protection Office at Reduit, Mer Rouge and SSR International Airport. Total volume of agricultural commodities inspected amounted to approximately 21,504,611 kg and 3,378,197 units. These consisted mainly of fruits, vegetables, anthurium blooms, anthurium leaves, wooden pallets and crates, spices and ornamental seeds.
Importation of agricultural commodities during year 2007
A total of 6,492 commercial and non-commercial Inspection Certificates were issued by the National Plant Protection Office at Port Louis Office (Mer Rouge) and at SSR International Airport (Plaisance) during year 2007. Approximately 373,702,855 kg and 1,176,230 units of imported agricultural products comprising mainly of fruits, vegetables, aromatic herbs, salads, fresh cut flowers, planting materials, seeds (vegetables, fruits, flowers), wooden articles, wood and pulses were inspected and cleared for delivery.
