  • Five actions to reach two objectives

  1. Promote and develop operational, scientific and technical cooperation between the countries of the region for phytosanitary matters.
  2. Promote the trade of horticultural products among the member states ad others and, also, increase significantly the standard of living of the farmers concerned.

To reach these objectives, the PRPV’s actions are as follows :

  • Creation of a « Crop Protection Network for the Indian Ocean »
  • The network links the services for crop protection in the five islands as well as the different operators of the horticultural sector. Concretely realised through a website, it’s a control tool and an alert system at national level, but also a tool for information, data and knowledge centralization on vegetable protection at the regional level.

  • Regional harmonization of phytosanitary legislations
  • The phytosanitary legislations concern phytosanitary control, the registration and the quality control of phytopharmaceutical products.

  • Quality control of agricultural and phytopharmaceutical products

  • Applied research on phytopharmaceutical products and biological control methods
  • To strengthen the control methods against harmful organisms, the PRPV supports the IOC countries at two levels : the approval and the control of phytopharmaceutical products, and the search for alternative control methods (biological or integrated control).

  • Support, advice and training for producers and partners of the horticultural sector
